Titre incontournable dans toute bonne desmothèque, mais épuisé depuis quelques années, l'antique "Ducati 916" par Ian Falloon, a été réédité cet été chez l'inévitable Veloce Publishing. Naturellement, cet ouvrage est disponible (à "tarif Club") au BiblioSpagh', la boutique libraire du Ducati Club de France. ;o)
Ce titre est publié en anglais, et faute à ce jour de version française (les traductions sont de toutes manières traditionnellement assez pourries ou au minimum maladroites), c'est une bonne excuse pour parfaire son niveau d'anglais.
La version originelle avait été publiée en 2001 chez Haynes Publishing, elle était donc restée incomplète. La nouvelle mouture brosse toute l'étendue de la gamme 748-916-996, et poursuit le récit jusqu'au 998, et même la descendance S4RS de 2008. La mise en page est quasi identique, mais le nouveau format enfle de 30 pages et (par un papier un peu plus épais il est vrai) de quelques 300 grammes.

Synopsis
The 916 spearheaded the Ducati revival of the 1990s. Introduced at the end of 1993, this product of Massimo Tamburini and the Cagiva Research Centre took the water-cooled four-valve engine of the 851, placing it in an evolutionary chassis with revolutionary styling. The 916 immediately set new standards of performance for twin-cylinder machines, epitomised by its unequalled success in the World Superbike Championship. This book will trace the conception and development of the four-valve Ducati from its first appearance at the Bol d’Or in 1986. By 1990 Raymond Roche gave Ducati their first World Superbike Championship, this being followed by Texan Doug Polen. Star British rider Carl Fogarty then took over the reins, and along with Troy Corser and Troy Bayliss dominated the World Superbike Championship from 1994 until 2001. Along with the factory racers, all the related four-valve models will be covered in depth, from the initial 851 and 888, to the 748, ST4 and 996. Comme quoi, il ne fallait pas craquer aux offres avec des prix de fou, on l'a à un tarif honnête; si ils pouvaient en faire d'autres, des réimpressions ....
